Recycling collections
The green recycling wheelie bins need to be taken to the turning circles for collection every other Wednesday. They can contain:
- Plastic—only grade 1-5 (look for the triangles with a number within).
- Glass— no light bulbs, cups, ceramic or broken glass.
- Metals—no paint cans, aluminium foil or aerosol cans
- Paper - flat packed and not protruding from the top of the bin
NOTE: soft plastics can't go in the green bins.

Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste runs a 'drop-off' community recycling centre at Whangaparaoa and can take cardboard, paper, glass, and aluminium and steel cans. For a small fee they can also deal with your old e-waste and appliances. Materials dropped off with Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste are mostly recycled in New Zealand.
Gulf Harbour ferry service
Fullers 360 Discovery operates regular ferries from the Gulf Harbour marina. There are daily ferry services running to downtown Auckland back, Monday-Friday. Timetable.
Gulf Harbour marina is also a pick up for the popular day trips to Tiritiri Matangi, an open sanctuary bird island.
