Useful Information
Recycling collections
The green recycling wheelie bins need to be taken to the turning circles for collection every other Wednesday. They can contain:
- Plastic—only grade 1-5 (look for the triangles with a number within).
- Glass— no light bulbs, cups, ceramic or broken glass.
- Metals—no paint cans, aluminium foil or aerosol cans
- Paper - flat packed and not protruding from the top of the bin
NOTE: soft plastics can't go in the green bins.
For further information have a look at the Auckland Council website - rubbish and recycling.
Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste runs a 'drop-off' community recycling centre at Whangaparaoa and can take cardboard, paper, glass, and aluminium and steel cans. (Fees payable for some items.) They can also help dispose of your old e-waste and appliances. Materials dropped off with Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste are mostly recycled in New Zealand.
